Monaco MegaYacht, Super Yacht Mind Boggler!
Sep 27, 2010Melacina Clarinda
Just got back from this year’s utterly amazing Monaco Yacht Show – four fabulous days and nights, filled with the sublime sights and heady sensations on board some of the most achingly beautiful new mega yachts and superyachts ever to grace the Port Hercules marina– I was totally teaked out!
One hundred luxury mega yachts and super yachts, at least 150 ft long, forty of which, were debutantes making their maiden appearance for the forthcoming super yacht charter season to the Mediterranean and of course, the Caribbean, crewed yacht charter cruise during the months ahead.
From the 295 foot, exquisitely furnished 1920s retro styling ‘classic’, ‘Nero’ to the uber-modern ‘Princess Mariana’, a 260 ft Danish slice of razor cut, modern design or the swooning, rich Italian white cushioned opulence of the 203 ft ‘Roma’. And when it comes to simply floating in an interior ocean of soft snow leather, the 133ft sailing holiday yacht, ‘Valquest’, has to be seen to be touched, to be believed!
The sheer sense overload of it all meant much needed excursions to the Captains’ Hideaout, aka, the Fusion Restaurant for the daily Happy Hour!
I was wondering if Captain Magic might turn up in his mighty Sea Force One, Dream Marine’s portfolio, leisure nightclub superyacht, boasting its own cascading, sumptuous leather and of course, devoted to the hedonist pleasure of crewed yacht charter.
I’m sure he must have received an VIP invite to The Captain’s party on Friday before the final day at the exclusive Fairmont Hotel. Just about every other key player on the well-heeled and connected European network seemed to be around – and talking about the up and coming Abu Dhabi Grand Prix!
