Boat Shows and Yacht Charter Season Ahead

Cowes Week over for another year, and coming into view shortly is a trio of Boat Shows at Cannes, Southampton, Monaco in September, not to mention Fort Lauderdale in October.

In the meanwhile, we’re into that becalmed part of the season where we might just be glancing our eyes over hulls and prows and running fingertips over ropes for any possible danger signs ...

It’s still high season, of course, around the Mediterranean, and chartering around the Pacific, or Indian Ocean is practically all year round anyway. The 80-100 foot Custom Yachts and Superyachts, from the likes of Liara and Aristarchos are always going to be in big demand - these svelte, luxury pleasure machines are firm favourites with couples, their families and friends, out for a well deserved good time!

The Winter charters of the Caribbean are booking as we speak, and as I’m always partial to a catamaran, with their solid, sturdy handling, I have to put a word in for Abuelo – her 70 foot length is ideal for first-time charterers and, unusually, comes with lots of extra interior space. She doesn’t heel or tip sideways with the wind as traditional, monohull yachts might do and the wide steps at the back of each hull means she’s easy for getting into the water for swimming, skiing, etc.

Definitely, a boat with character, even without a traditional sail!
