Cowes Week news – Extreme 40 Sailing ! Now into it’s fourth year in a row, the UK leg of the Extreme Sailing Series is wowing everyone over six days of long distant races around the Solent, with the kind of muscular racing energy that these incredible high performance catamarans are capable of displaying.

Kicking off at ten in the morning, The Extreme Bar at the Race Village – open one hour later- provides a perfect view of the racing, accompanied by a live commentary.

Our own catamarans, like the 62 foot Anassa are of course an Elite range, which you will more likely find cruising on the Eastern Mediterranean or the Caribbean at this time of the year. Motor yacht catamarans are no slouches in the speed department and the 70 foot Damrak or Seabass can do an impressive 12 –15 knots or more!

Sunday saw the inaugural Artemis Even Keel Challenge. The Series aims to promote sailing as a 'sport for all' at Cowes Week, giving opportunity to 12 novice sailors from a mixed background of disability or disadvantage to crew six Artemis 20 keelboats alongside their UKSA skippers.

Whether you are Extreme Sailing or handling the ropes for the first time, the sheltered waters and unusual tides of the Solent always give competitors some exciting challenges!
