Team Spirit Flows At SuperYacht Cup Palma 2010

All eyes have been focused on Valencia this weekend, I know, not to mention certain football and tennis tournaments I shan’t mention! It’s no wonder coverage of the SuperYacht Cup Palma 2010, which occurred at the same time, hardly got a look in!

Around 20 superyachts entered the three day Regatta, now in its 15th year, which was held once again in the centre of Palma on the Muelle Viejo, and saw the 95 foot veteran of many worldwide yacht races, Scorpione dei Mari, being awarded the overall first place in Cruising Class, and the 104 foot Royal Huisman sailing yacht Gliss, coming in 2nd place, overall.

The large superyacht regattas tend to bring together sailors from all over the world, either sailing on the same teams, or sharing their expertise on a different yacht each time, but there’s always a great team spirit to be found on yachts of this size and class.

I know when I have been out on Dream Marine’s 100 foot motor yacht Olialia, or the Aristarchos, a sleek sailing lady, stretching out at 130 foot, and often seen gracing Eastern Mediterranean waters, there’s always something very special about the way everyone gets involved with the essential sailing experience – its’ the reason why we are all here in the first place, isn’t it? I’ve always thought so.
