Making Waves In Marmaris

What with the World Cup having kicked off, Royal Ascot, and of course the Valencia Grand Prix roaring into life this time next week, I’m actually now looking forward to Marmaris in October!

A great bareboat Yachting race around this popular Turkish coastline area of the Med, it's now in it's 21st season, hosting 140 craft from 40ft to 52 ft and above, each year.

This event always makes for fantastic sailing as it’s less crowded than Cowes Week, which never sees less than a 1,000 boats jostling each other out of the way to try and get a decent position!

It sometimes feels the same way when The Med cruising season gets going! You are bound to see Anassa – always a popular catamaran with a big 30ft beam - or the very trim MMBW Nicole, with a striking mahogany interior, both 62 ft craft, cutting through the calm Med waters with the greatest of ease!

These days of course, Bare Necessities, tends to get a lot of attention, what with being recently seen on ITV’s sailing challenge programme ‘All At Sea’, but she does handle really well.

Meanwhile all eyes are on Valencia, of course, as the MegaYachts will also, no doubt, jostle a little for their cruising space and premier moorings. Melacina hasn’t stopped talking about them!
